A new X-Division Champion has been crowned!
In the biggest upset of last night’s Emergence special, Rohit Raju beat Chris Bey and TJP to win the X-Division title for the first time in career. Originally, TJP vs. Chris Bey was set for the Impact show; however, the cocky former champion dismissed Raju as a threat and added him to the match-up to help him beat TJP.
The three-way match-up opened up the show and Bey and Raju’s alliance seem solid at first. TJP managed to get the upper hand on both men in the beginning; however, Raju’s distraction caused Bey to get one over TJP. This didn’t last long as TJP fought back against the former champ, though Raju halted TJP's momentum very quickly.
TJP used various submission maneuvers to keep his opponents grounded, with Bey and Raju double teaming the 35-year-old throughout most of the match. Perkins almost got the submission victory with STF on Bey, but Raju managed to stop Bey from tapping out.
Then, the match-up ended up with all three men fighting on top of the turnbuckle, but Raju shoved TJP off. With Bey stuck on the tree of woe, Raju connected with a double foot stomp and covered him for the surprising three count.
Bey’s title reign only last 31 days as the 24-year-old had beat Willie Mack for the belt at Slammiversary. This is Raju’s first championship in the company.
