Sami Callihan is now a hacker. Again.

Last night on Impact Wrestling, the former Impact World Champion made his return to the promotion by attacking Hall of Fame inductee Ken Shamrock.

For weeks, Impact has been teasing a wrestler with the hacker gimmick throughout various segments on the show and Callihan revealed himself as the man behind the mask (or computer) after shooting a fireball in the face of the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

This isn’t the first time that “The Draw” has done a hacker gimmick, as the 32-year-old had the act during his brief time during NXT. The gimmick didn’t work during his time on the developmental brand, which is something that Callihan himself acknowledged in a 2016 interview with Wrestlezone:

“That was mine and Dusty Rhodes‘ brain child. Dusty fine tuned it. It was ready to go. I got to play with my broken toys baby.” I think it could have been the precursor to a lot of things. When I had the idea for it and pitched it it was before Mr. Robot, the Watchdog video game and it was just one of those things I thought was a really good gimmick. It’s hard to say it like this but it was kind of maybe before it’s time for when it could have been as relevant as it should have been. The puzzle pieces just didn’t seem to go together. It wasn’t the right time for it. It wasn’t the right time for me.”

It should be interesting to see how the gimmick works on Impact. As expected, Shamrock and the former Impact World Champion will meet inside the ring one-on-one; however, there’s no word on when these two will collide.
