Tessa Blanchard is the new Impact World Champion!
The third-generation star had a breakout year in 2019, with Blanchard showcasing her toughness and skill against Callihan at Slammiversary. Despite losing, the 24-year-old proved to the world why she was one of the best wrestlers on the planet, and continued to fight up the ranks to get her title opportunity at Hard To Kill.
Blanchard was surrounded by controversy going into her championship bout against Callihan; however, that clearly didn’t lead to any changes to the plan.
As expected, both “The Draw” and Blanchard had a strong back-and-forth effort, with Callihan coming extremely close to winning when he hit the Cactus Special (Piledriver finisher). However, Blanchard fought back hard and after connecting with multiple Canadian destroyers, the third-generation star hit her Buzzsaw DDT finisher for the three count.
Blanchard becomes the first woman ever to win the Impact World Championship.
