The Motor City Machine Guns will get their opportunity at championship gold.
At Slammiversary, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin made their surprise return to Impact Wrestling and got a hard fought victory over Pete Wentz and Dezmond Xavier of The Rascalz. Later in the night, The North successfully defended their belts against Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan.
The very cocky Ethan Page bragged about being the Impact World Tag Team Champions for over one year following the match-up, and both Alexander and Page called themselves the greatest tag team in Impact Wrestling history. Cue to MCMG, who disagreed with The North’s statement and confirmed that officials have made a championship match between both teams on this week’s episode.
The last time that the Guns received a title shot on Impact was back at Lockdown 2012 where the duo lost their final championship match-up against then champions Magnus and Samoa Joe. Despite that, both Shelley and Sabin are no strangers to holding tag team gold as the duo have also won titles in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and All American Wrestling.
Will the former TNA World Tag Team Champions come back strong by defeating the longest reigning tag team champion’s in the company’s history? Or will Ethan Page and Josh Alexander shut down another set of challengers? We’ll find out this Tuesday!
