In a shocking turn of events, The North defeated LAX to win the Impact World Tag Team titles on Friday evening. Santana and Ortiz were dethroned at the Impact Plus exclusive event, Bash At The Brewery.
The former four-time Tag Team champions were originally scheduled to face The Rascalz for the tag team gold at Slammiversary; however, with the recent title change, this means that The North will go on to face Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier this Sunday to defend their newly won championships.
The title change comes on the heels of LAX’s contract expiring sometime this month. There’s no word on whether Ortiz and Santana have re-signed with the promotion or not; however, with reported interest from WWE and AEW, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the duo dropped the titles due to their contract situation. As previously stated, that’s just pure speculation.
