With all the recent TNA departures, it is nice to hear some talents staying in the promotion.
Fightful Select has confirmed that TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich, Ash By Elegance (former WWE star Dana Brooke) and John Skyler had re-signed with the promotion. TNA would later confirmed the Fightful report.
It’s no surprise that Slamovich re-signed with the company since they had a chance to take the Knockouts title off of her at Final Resolution, but Slamovich successfully beat Tasha Steelz in a Street Fight. The TNA knockout had been with the company since 2019, but 2024 is where TNA really started to push the 26-year-old as a singles star. Slamovich beat Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts title at Bound For Glory and she has defended it four times thus far.
Ash By Elegance isn’t a big surprise either. The former Dana Brooke reinvented herself in TNA and has seen some success in the promotion. Ash has yet to win a belt in TNA, but she’s challenged for the Knockouts Championship several times. Currently, she’s in a feud with Spitfire and Ash seems to be on the verge of winning the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles with her partner, Heather By Elegance. TNA has treated the former WWE star well as she’s been given prominent television time that has allowed her to grow as a performer.
John Skyler has mainly been used as enhancement talent in TNA. Other than a Xplosion victory over former TNA World Champion Rich Swann, Skyler has yet to win a single match in the promotion. Despite his constant losses, the 37-year-old is an impressive performer who has had great matches with the likes of Chris Sabin, Sami Callihan, and Mike Bailey.
It remains unknown on what the length of their contracts are. Sean Ross Sapp conducted an interview with the recent TNA signees and they’re all pretty excited on what’s to come in 2025.
Despite the Tessa Blanchard controversy, TNA has been on an upswing, especially after the partnership with NXT/WWE. As previously stated, Ash seems to be on the verge of winning the TNA Knockouts title following her wins over Jody Threat and Dani Luna. Slamovich doesn’t have an opponent for her Knockouts title just yet, but there's still a couple of weeks before Genesis, so TNA will likely determine a number one contender before their first pay-per-view of 2025 arrives.
Either way, congratulations to Ash, John, and Masha for re-signing with TNA!
