Two big matches have been confirmed for Slammiversary!
The first was actually confirmed over the weekend as Joe Hendry was given another chance to win back what he lost at WWE Battleground. However, Hendry vs. Trick Williams II wasn’t made official until the latter successfully defended his belt against Josh Briggs on NXT. Hendry came out to congratulate Trick, though it didn’t fare well for the NXT Champion once the segment was all said and done.
At Genesis, Joe Hendry finally achieved his dream of becoming TNA World Champion by beating Nic Nemeth. The 37-year-old would go on to successfully defend his belt against Ethan Page, Frankie Kazarian, Alex Hammerstone, Ryan Nemeth, and Matt Cardona.
Trick Williams has been a thorn on Hendry’s side ever since the NXT star violently attacked him following his win at Rebellion. With Joe Hendry getting one more crack at the world title, will the former TNA World Champion avenge his loss to Trick Williams? We’ll find out on July 20th!
The second championship match is a Hardy Boyz special.
Matt and Jeff Hardy have been trying to recapture the belts they lost to Ryan and Nic Nemeth at Rebellion. Now, they have another opportunity to do so in a four way ladder match involving First Class (AJ Francis & KC Navarro) and The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)
This will be the third title defense for the Nemeth Brothers since there victory over The Hardys. Now Matt & Jeff similarly won the belts in a Full Metal Mayhem match at Bound for Glory 2024; add in the fact that the Hardys have a career in ladder matches and they come into the bout with a clear advantage.
However, The Rascalz and Nic Nemeth are no strangers to this type of speciality match. Though neither have as much experience as Matt & Jeff Hardy, it does somewhat level the playing field.
Slammiversary is shaping up nicely with three matches official for the upcoming pay-per-view. Check out the advertised line-up below:
- TNA X Division Championship: Moose (c) vs. Leon Slater
- TNA World Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Joe Hendry
- TNA World Tag Team Championships -- Four-Way Ladder Match: The Nemeths (Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth) (c) vs. The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) vs. The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) vs. First Cla$$ (A.J. Francis & K.C. Navarro)
