Velvet Sky details how Tommy Dreamer tricked her and Angelina Love.
The Beautiful People are being inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame this Sunday; however, Carlos Silva surprised Love and Sky with the news during a live interview. As you can tell, Love and Sky were overwhelmed by it and consider it to be a big honor.
However, before that news was unveiled to the former TNA Knockouts, they were convinced that they would be doing a mini speech at Bound For Glory. Sky explained to SoCalVal how Dreamer got her and Love pretty good.
“Tommy Dreamer, he got us good. When he originally reached out and asked, he reached out to both Angelina and I and said that he wanted us to be a part of Bound For Glory this year. To me, it was like a no-brainer, immediately yes because that’s where Angelina and I got our start in TNA so Bound For Glory holds a special place in my life and in my heart because it’s where we started.
He told us over the phone what they were looking for her and I to do on the show, come out, talk on the microphone during the girls segment, blah blah blah, hit the music. Play the bird and then leave, like classic. We were like, ‘Yeah, sounds great. Let’s do it.’ Then, he mentioned a meet and greet. We were just excited enough for that. Lowell, they always had the hot crowd. If you remember Lockdown 08, that was in Lowell so that news was exciting just to be a part of it.”
She recalled the moment Carlos Silva came onscreen and it still didn’t click that the TNA president was about to announce their Hall of Fame induction. But once they did, Sky was in tears of joy over being honored in such a big way.
“We were not expecting it at all. He’s in the middle of question number three and then all of the sudden out of nowhere, Carlos Silva comes on and we still didn’t think anything of it. We’re still just like, ‘Oh, hey Carlos, so nice to meet you.’ He’s just like, ‘Girls, thank you for agreeing to be a part of Bound For Glory, it’s the biggest night. You guys are legends in your own right, we’re happy to have you.’ We’re just telling him that we’re so excited to be there and thank you for having us and then out of the blue he was like, we want you to come and be inducted into the 2025 TNA Hall Of Fame.
I immediately just started balling because literally nothing catches me off guard. I can usually sniff anything like that that might be going on anywhere but I was not expecting that at all. Angelina and I, we both just teared up. It was just so exciting, my heart was racing out of excitement. Carlos was thrilled being on the call, ear to ear smiles all around.”
Interestingly, Velvet explained how the faction almost didn’t happen. The Beautiful People was originally rejected, with one producer notably saying that it was “career suicide”
“We initially pitched our name as Velvet Love Entertainment… and they hated it. One of the officials, I’m not gonna say who… He’s like, ‘We can’t put you two together. That’ll be career suicide.’… I get especially coming from the person that it came from, I kind of get in a way why it was kind of shot down, because TNA was pretty much a male-dominated company.”
