AJ Styles Named New #1 Contender For Kevin Owens' United States Championship At WWE BATTLEGROUND
AJ Styles recently failed to capture the United States Championship from Kevin Owens but he'll get a second chance at WWE Battleground. How did it all go down? You can find out after the jump...
On last night's episode of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles won the Independence Day Battle Royal to become the new #1 contender for Kevin Owens' WWE United States Championship. Fighting off competition from the likes of Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Tye Dillinger, and The Fashion Police, he earned a title shot at WWE Battleground as you can see in the video below.
Styles then followed that up with a Tweet promising to bring the US title back to America; Kevin Owens may claim to be the new face of America, but he hails from Canada and is currently embarking on an anti-American gimmick which has been working out surprisingly well for him so far.
After he was essentially screwed out of the title at WWE Backlash, it will be interesting to see how things play out from here and whether or not this feud between Styles and Owens is one we can expect to see play out over the next few months. They certainly go well together in the ring so it wouldn't be a bad thing for either wrestler. What do you guys think?
