Apollo Crews Returns On Raw After WrestleMania 36; Loses To Aleister Black

Apollo was drafted to Raw because there were trades that were about to expire. This may have been referring to Bliss and Cross being traded to SmackDown back in October for picks to be named at a later time.

Tonight, Monday Night Raw saw the return of Apollo Crews.

Up until this point, Crews was featured on SmackDown and was in the middle of a shift in his moral compass after losing several times to Sheamus.

It was stated on commentary that Apollo was drafted to Raw because there were trades that were about to expire. This may have been referring to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross being traded to SmackDown back in October for Brock Lesnar and two picks to be named at a later time. In his first match back on the red brand, Apollo crews lost to Aleister Black in a highly competitive match.

From WWE:

Thanks to some draft picks that were set to expire, Apollo Crews found himself back on Monday Night Raw after a yearlong stint on SmackDown. And he wasted no time showing the WWE Universe what they’d been missing, going toe-to-toe with Aleister Black for nearly an hour in an effort that was so impressive that you’d be forgiven for burying the lede that he lost.

Black, who likes to put his opponents away quickly, found himself completely stymied by Crews, who had an answer for every move and enough athleticism to send The Ominous Man From Amsterdam struggling for answers. Crews went down swinging, and only a last-gasp Black Mass finally put him down for three. Points to Black for a hard-fought victory, but the message couldn’t be clearer: Apollo Crews is going to be a problem.

While the world of WWE is never set in stone, this could be the beginning of a new horizon for Apollo Crews.
