Well, it's official: Brock Lesnar is now the longest reigning WWE World Champion of the modern era. The Beast has been in possession of the Universal Championship for 435 days now, a number which means he's surpassed CM Punk's history WWE Championship run of 434 days. While it's true that they're different titles, that sort of technicality doesn't mean much to WWE and its record books.
The Beast won't crack the 1500 day record set by Hulk Hogan between 1984 and 1988 but he is the longest reigning world champion of the modern era, a fact WWE will no doubt be quick to point out.
Lensar beat Goldberg for the Universal Championship at last year's WrestleMania and has defended it a handful of times since. Well, two hands - he's actually put it on the line only ten times in total. The last time came at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April and it's thought that he'll next put the title on the line at SummerSlam (where he could lose it to Roman Reigns if rumours are to be believed).
