Carlito made his WWE debut in 2004 on SmackDown, defeating John Cena to win the United States Championship in his first match. He moved to RAW in 2005, capturing the Intercontinental Championship while showcasing his "Caribbean Cool" persona. After tag team success with his brother Primo, his initial WWE run ended in 2010 after a tenure marked by mid-card success but no world title reigns.
Carlito eventually returned to WWE in 2021, appearing on RAW in a tag match with Jeff Hardy. He made a full-time return at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, joining the Latino World Order, but WWE failed to ever really capitalise on his momentum and the incredible response he received in his home country.
He turned heel in March 2024, aligning with The Judgment Day. However, his activity has been limited, with only one televised match in 2025 when he was part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Despite being a mainstay of The Judgement Day's backstage segments, he was released by WWE last month.
Breaking his silence on that, Carlito admitted that it didn't necessarily come as a surprise when WWE decided not to renew his contract. "I wasn’t too surprised or too shocked, you know, I mean, I signed for two years, and it actually went better than I then I thought it would go."
"The only thing is, I’m a professional...they could have told me, and I would have...at least let me finish out the story for the Judgment Day so they can keep on going," he continued. "I think it’s a disrespect to the fans that...that somebody just dropped storylines."
Carlito has indeed vanished from The Judgement Day, with no explanation for or even an acknowledgement of his absence. He proved himself a great comedic presence in the group and takes credit for taking his character in that direction. "That was all my ideas. Because I was like, I took literally, nothing and I made something with it. Every week it was great. Let me just hand me a thing and say, you know, 'do what you do.'"
While he's positive about his in-ring future, the former WWE Superstar pointed to Triple H not liking his character as potentially being a reason for why his time with The Judgement Day reached such an abrupt end.
"I’m not getting pushed and Hunter is not a fan of Carlito," he revealed. "I think, personally, he likes me, but I think he never was a big fan of the character." Despite that, given his age, he later reiterated that his two-year run "went better than I thought it would."
