CM Punk returned to WWE last year, but he did so under Triple H's watch, not Vince McMahon's. It's hard to imagine his comeback ever happening with the disgraced former WWE Chairman still in charge, and he's now weighed in on how the two men differ.
Asked by SI Media's Jimmy Traina about how The Game's leadership differs from McMahon's, the Second City Saint said, "It’s been great. Vince would make people wait outside his office. There would be like a line, and people would be intimidated by that. I don’t get that read off Triple H at all."
"I don’t see people waiting outside his office, 'How long have you been here?' 'I’ve been here for three hours.' I never had that with Vince, I would always just go in and ask him a question if I needed to. Never trying to waste his time. Never trying to waste Triple H’s time."
Punk added, "I see him being a lot more hands-on with people and approachable and accessible. He wants everybody to be their best because he wants the show to be the best. There is no leftover 80s macho weird energy going on."
On Saturday night, the Best in the World clashed with Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. It was an incredible match full of drama which ultimately saw the Scottish Psychopath pick up the win after Punk allowed himself to be distracted.
Addressing the bout at the PLE's post-show press conference, Triple H shared high praise for all those involved.
"CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, I thought was a masterpiece," the WWE CCO told reporters. "Just, what a story. The moments all the way through, when you really break it down and you think like so much drama and tension and just how good it all was based on a $1 or a 50 cent bracelet right? That storytelling was epic, off the chart."
He'd later go on to share his admiration for CM Punk and how he's remained actively involved in the build to the match despite being injured at the Royal Rumble back in January. Triple H later praised McIntyre for his work, saying he's on fire right now.
We don't know where this feud goes next, but we'd imagine the idea is to build to Punk next setting his sights on Seth Rollins seeing as he's likely to blame him for his loss at SummerSlam.
