Most fans seem to agree that WWE's decision to release NXT star Cora Jade is questionable at best, and ridiculous at worst. She clearly has the potential to be a huge star in any professional wrestling promotion, and it feels like there's a story to be told there.
We'll get to that in a moment, but we've no doubt many of you will be aware that Jade grew up as a huge fan of CM Punk. She also hails from Chicago, and photos of her meeting the Second City Saint as a teenager have often done the rounds on social media.
Since he returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames in 2023, Punk has been a mentor to both Roxanne Perez and Jade, and broke his silence on the latter's release with a comment on her recent statement about leaving WWE.
He kept it simple by saying, "Dream chaser. Turn it to gold."
Jade is also among those to have responded to Dave Meltzer's claim that some of these wrestlers were fired for not working hard enough.
Responding to a post from Gigi Dolan, she said, "This, plus can’t forget having to go to my own gym outside of work after 'strength and conditioning' that wasn’t doing anything for me other than get me body shamed by my bosses, coworkers, and fans :) crazy!"
There's long been talk of toxicity within NXT, and it sounds like that's what Jade, who is now going by Elayna Black, may be referring to here. Needless to say, we'd imagine she'll have plenty more to say once that 90-day non-compete is up.
As a reminder, these are all the WWE Superstars released since WrestleMania 41 took place over Easter weekend last month.
