Drew McIntyre Weighs In On What He Brings To WWE's Locker Room As Backstage Veteran

Drew McIntyre may only be 32 but he's been in the wrestling business for a while and has experience working alongside the likes of The Undertaker and Ric Flair. Here, he talks about how that helps newer talent.

Drew McIntyre's return to WWE started in NXT but he made his surprise debut on RAW shortly after WrestleMania. Since then, he and Dolph Ziggler have formed a rather formidable pairing and while it's currently unclear what the company has planned for them, the signs do seem to be pointing to the Scottish Superstar receiving a fairly significant push now he has a brand new look and attitude.

During a recent interview, McIntyre was asked what he brings to the table behind the scenes now he's back and he explained that his veteran status is ultimately beneficial to the WWE's newer talent.

"Dolph is somebody who I met as soon as I got here. We used to be on the road with The Undertaker, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Christian, and even Ric Flair. When I was 22, Ric Flair was on the roster and we have been on the road with these people for a long time. Undertaker, right up until his last day was working full time constantly, even when he was beat up, had fire in his eyes. If he couldn't walk, he was flying around and he was The Undertaker in every way. That was such an inspiration.

"Now, these guys haven't been on the road with those guys and hadn't had the chance to learn from these people. They may have met them once or twice but they haven't been on the road, and hadn't had the chance to look up to these guys the way I had looked up to The Undertaker. Now, we don't have that anymore, and I feel like I need to be that guy. I am only 32, and have been wrestling for 20 years. You may think that I am in my 40's because I have been around forever, but now i know that I need to be here and be a good example, not only for me but for the entire business."

McIntyre makes some valid points here and while he may still be fairly young, his time on the road working alongside a different generation of WWE Superstar is bound to have given him some knowledge of the wrestling business that newer talent obviously weren't able to take advantage of! What do you hope comes next for him on RAW? As always, share your thoughts down below.
