Mariah May has made her debut in World Wrestling Entertainment on tonight's episode of NXT, with a surprise appearance during a promo segment revolving around what the current title scene looks like for the NXT Women's Championship.
On NXT, Jacy Jayne was in the ring—flanked by Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx—to talk about her shocking victory over Stephanie Vaquer on last week's episode, which netted her the NXT Women's Championship.
Jayne spoke about how they executed their big plan and how everything was finally the way it should be, now that Fatal Influence is back on top where they belong. As she started to explain Henley having her title reign being an excuse for why Jayne was the one chosen to beat Vaquer, she was interrupted by Lainey Reid of all people, who walked out from the crowd.
Reid, who has been on NXT Level Up and made other random appearances, but has not been a true NXT Superstar in a traditional sense, said that she was going to wait her turn in line, but upon seeing how Jayne is the most beatable champion, she's eager to already jump into the title hunt. However, more than others were willing to put their names in the hat, too.
Lola Vice came out next, "congratulating" Jayne on her victory and indicating she, too, is going to be gunning for a title shot.
Jordynne Grace came out next, interrupting to say that she thought she understood wrestling, but in a world where Trick Williams is the TNA world champion and Jayne can beat Vaquer for the NXT women's title, she's not quite sure what to think.
She was then interrupted as well, by Jaida Parker, who wants that belt around her little waist.
Kelani Jordan was next, quickly interrupted by Lash Legend, and then, Thea Hail jumped Parker from behind and a brawl erupted between those four, Vice, and Grace, while Fatal Influence remained in the ring and Lainey Reid stood on the apron, watching all of this go down.
Then, the lights went out, and when they came back on, Mariah May appeared on the raised observation platform to cut a quick promo to introduce herself (without saying her name). She said the best women's division just got a lot more glamorous, referencing her nickname "The Glamour", but noticeably, the commentary team also completely avoided saying her name in any fashion.
This is what happened when Ricky Starks showed up in the crowd and was referred to in a roundabout fashion before eventually being introduced officially with a name change to Ricky Saints, meaning we can expect the same to happen here. With near certainty, Mariah May will be calling herself a different name in NXT so WWE can trademark the name, despite how this perpetually receives a negative reception and doesn't seem to make any difference as far as WWE's monetary concerns.
Whenever her new ring name is revealed, we'll be sure to mention it here on The Ring Report!
