The libel and slander jury trial featuring WWE's Dr Chris Amann vs. CM Punk and Colt Cabana began in Chicago yesterday in a case which could result in Punk having to pay Amann $1 million in compensatory damages and an undetermined amount of punitive damages for remarks he made during a podcast appearance in the months which followed his WWE release back in 2014.
Apparently, Amann testified on his own behalf and came across as being "short and curt." He also appeared to be upset while recounting the backlash he received as a result of Punk's comments.
The jury was played the entire podcast and Punk "seemed visibly amused, chuckling here and there at some of the over the top things" that were said during the podcast, such as "Cabana saying f--k you to people who might call next week with abrasive questions." However, Chicago Tribune reporter Gregory Pratt says he mostly appeared to be serious and attentive to what was happening.
The trial will now continue and Punk will presumably be next to give his side of the story in regards to what he claimed was serious neglect by Amann. As always, stay tuned for further updates.
