Jacob Fatu has lost the WWE United States Championship to Solo Sikoa at WWE Night of Champions 2025 after some interference from JC Mateo, a returning Tonga Loa, and the debut of Hikuleo—who hasn't been given an official name quite yet.
Here is your breakdown of what led up to this, what went down during the premium live event, and some theories on the repercussions from what happened here!
How We Got Here:
As a quick refresher, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu (as well as Tonga Loa's brother Tama Tonga) were brought into The Bloodline when Solo Sikoa took over after WrestleMania XL. Tonga Loa has been out of action with a torn tricep injury since November 30th after competing in the WarGames match at Survivor Series 2024.
Tama Tonga also went down with an injury, and eventually, Solo Sikoa brought Jeff Cobb (renamed JC Mateo) into the group, despite him not being in any way related. This lack of a familial connection, along with a realization that Sikoa was just using him, led to Jacob Fatu turning on Sikoa at Money in the Bank. Since then, they've been feuding with one another.
Match Details:
As much as Sikoa has proven himself more than capable, he's been unable to win any gold on the main roster and would have lost this match if it weren't for outside interference.
At first, JC Mateo interfered, as he was the most obvious extra opponent Fatu needed to compensate for. But there was even more backup for Sikoa with the returning Tonga Loa, misspelled (by using his New Japan "Tanga Loa" version of his name) in WWE's official tweet about his return:
Speaking of names, Hikuleo made his WWE debut and caused even more interference, but was given the treatment that has been happening a lot lately where the commentary team went out of their way to specifically not refer to him by any name.
Nevertheless, having three extra people help him out resulted in Sikoa coming out on top, and he's our new United States champion.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
Obviously, Hikuleo is getting a new ring name. WWE previously trademarked "Talla Tonga", which may be the name he goes by, or that could have just been like "Caesar Sikoa" where they decide not to use it. That's particularly interesting, because if they already have those names trademarked and decided not to say them tonight, that might point to them wanting something else that they're holding off on.
As far as the title situation, Fatu will undoubtedly want some revenge, and could very well get a rematch at SummerSlam, if not at Saturday Night's Main Event or on an episode of SmackDown beforehand. He's got backup in Jimmy Uso, but he's going to need more than that if he wants to win the belt back.
My personal pick to watch out for as the person to dethrone Solo is Damian Priest, but we'll have to see how that plays out.
