Tonight's episode of RAW promises to be an exciting one, with some huge matches and big returns. The show's debut on Netflix will bring WWE to its biggest audience yet but it appears WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is being saved for the coming weeks.
At ESPN's College Gameday earlier last year, Goldberg confirmed that 2025 would see him wrestle his retirement match for WWE (he last competed against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022 but was never given the proper final bout Vince McMahon promised).
According to Dave Meltzer, the WCW icon is set to appear on the fourth RAW on Netflix which hails from Atlanta, Georgia on January 27. While not confirmed, it's believed an angle will be shot to set the stage for a match between Goldberg and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
In related news, WWE has shared a first look at the Titantron set for tonight's RAW and it's mighty impressive. The show's cold open has also been released online, with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" discussing the history of pro wrestling and how it's all led to this.
"As television changed, so did wrestling," he says in the video below. "And together, they changed America. The truth is, a great swath of American culture is born of that eternal battle between the face and the heel."
The Game concluded, "From television to streaming, from America to the world, ladies and gentlemen, presenting the all real ever fantastic never to end story of WWE."
We expect RAW to start setting the stage for WrestleMania, particularly with The Rock and John Cena among those returning later tonight. Here's what Triple H recently said about his plans for the Show of Shows:
"I cannot tell you what happens between today and Las Vegas. People get hurt, you get a phone call, 'Have you ever considered doing this with me?' 'Oh, that’s an amazing opportunity. Maybe we go in a different direction.' Sometimes you start to go down the road with a storyline and it’s not resonating the way I thought it would, 'Maybe this would be bigger.' It can all change. I’m a big, 'Put pins in stuff far in advance.'"
"We had a card for WrestleMania loosely written out in October, and that’s morphed a lot. We’re sort of sitting down on a regular basis, weekly, and talking about what do we believe the shift is. Where do we see the shift happening and what do we need to move around? Can I say I have something penciled in? Yes. Do I think it will stay? I think, but I’m not sure."
