James Ellsworth Returned To WWE To Help Carmella Retain The Women's Championship Against Asuka

There were rumours that James Ellsworth would make his WWE return at Money in the Bank and he did so in a rather unique fashion when he showed up to help Carmella retain her Women's Title against Asuka.

Last night's Money in the Bank PPV featured a handful of surprises but one of the biggest - assuming you hadn't been online in the past week or two - was the unexpected return of James Ellsworth. While he'd claimed on social media to be heading to an event in China, he actually appeared during Carmella and Asuka's match dressed as the former in order to cost her the match against his old...flame?!

After hitting
the Princess Kick on Asuka, Carmella handed the Empress of Tomorrow her second singles loss in WWE and you have to believe there's going to be some retribution for this moving forward.

Ellsworth was paired with Carmella after she suggested it to Vince McMahon that they would work well together but the company chose to release him once it became clear that had run its course. It was at last year's Money in the Bank that the jobber caused controversy by essentially winning the MITB ladder match for Carmella and it will be interesting seeing if this was a one-off or he's back for good.
