This Monday's episode of RAW opened with Liv Morgan demanding that IYO SKY hand over the Women's World Championship. Unfortunately, when she faced Kairi Sane later that evening, Morgan was almost immediately injured.
This came just one week after her confrontation with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, suggesting WWE had major plans for Morgan to be front and centre in multiple storylines heading into upcoming events like Night of Champions, Saturday Night's Main Event, Evolution 2, and SummerSlam.
According to @WrestleVotes, WWE has been forced to go back to the drawing board with Evolution 2, in particular, following Morgan's injury.
"I was told this morning that the injury has now caused a lot of the Evolution card to basically be scrapped, be ripped up, and start again from scratch because she was pegged for a big-time tag team match that is not going to happen now," the insider revealed. "That spot is gonna be filled by someone else, and there’s a lot of ripple effects."
The tag team match was going to see Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez facing off with The Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie. While NXT callup Roxanne Perez may take Morgan's place, that won't be anywhere near as big a match (even if it will be a huge moment in the rising star's career).
As we first reported yesterday, PW Insider has shared an update on Morgan's injury, and it sounds like she'll be sidelined for a while. "It is 100% a legitimate injury," the site confirmed. "For those who have asked with conspiracy theories that this was a way to write her out for an outside project, no it was not."
"Morgan was checked out by WWE medical personnel as soon as she was brought backstage," the report continued. "WWE is waiting to learn the severity of the dislocation, which would determine how long Morgan would be out of physical action."
While we're still waiting on official word, it does sound like Morgan will miss all of the shows mentioned above. However, WWE has yet to share an official update regarding her injury and how long she'll be on the shelf for.
"If it is a severe dislocation, it could be upwards of 16 weeks before someone is cleared for athletic activity, but again, this is all dependent on the final diagnosis in terms of how severe the dislocation is and that has not been determined as of this writing," the piece noted. "We are told it was being seen as a freak occurrence and there is no heat on anyone."
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
