After playing the babyface during rivalries with The Miz and Roman Reigns, it quickly became apparent that the WWE Universe wasn't willing to embrace YouTuber Logan Paul as a "good guy."
He's proven the doubters wrong and has impressed in the ring time and time again, but the social media influencer and boxer is clearly better suited to being a heel. We've seen that first-hand in recent months, and Paul has now opened up on embracing the hate he gets from booing fans.
"I'm here to put on a show," he recently told Stephen A. Smith. "My fiancé, who recently started coming to my wrestling shows, asked me, 'Does it bother you when the whole stadium is booing you?'"
"I said, 'Nina, the commodity here is time. It's not about being liked. People are giving me their most valuable commodity, which is their time. If I can evoke a reaction out of the consumer, we've won.'"
"I'm not a bad guy, I'm the bad guy. And it's f***ing fantastic," Paul continued. "When I'm there, just being an a-hole, puppeteering the crowd, and getting under my opponent's skin in every little way I can, there's a part of me that ignites."
"It's a little scary, but I love the idea of being able to, essentially, conduct an entire audience however I want, whenever I want with what I say."
We've seen him do a great job with that, with Paul's win over Ricochet at SummerSlam giving him a much-needed win after losses to Reigns and Seth Rollins. He's taken to professional wrestling well and is clearly someone WWE hopes to continue doing business with.
It's currently unclear when or where he'll next wrestle, though we'd be shocked if he's not back in time for the company's next Saudi Arabia show. As always, stay tuned for updates as we have them!
