It's been revealed today that former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle will square off with Rob Van Dam at an independent wrestling show in 2024. Bobby Fulton broke the news on social media, confirming Riddle and RVD will compete at "Big Time Wrestling Presents The Reunion 3" in the OU-Shoemaker Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.

The bout is scheduled to go down on Saturday, March 9, and both Riddle and RVD will take part in a fan event before the show which is set to include appearances from the likes of Kurt Angle, The Rock N Roll Express, and Missy Hyatt.

WWE released Matt Riddle in September following an incident at JFK Airport which saw the allegedly intoxicated pro wrestler accuse a TSA agent of sexually assaulting him. For the sports entertainment giant, it was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Riddle was fired.

Recently, Dave Meltzer shared some insights into Riddle's plans when he said, "His people have already been in talks with a number of pro wrestling, MMA and boxing companies regarding working there. The only two that have come out are PFL and Bare Knuckle Boxing. Nothing can be announced until December when his non-compete ends, and yes, his non-compete does extend to MMA and boxing."

For many fans, Riddle vs. RVD is a dream match. Both men have expressed interest in squaring off in the past and we're honestly a little surprised AEW President Tony Khan didn't book it (especially with a troubling decline in ratings across the board for his company's shows).

Back in 2021, Riddle revealed why RVD is his dream opponent...or tag team partner!

"I don’t know if I want to go one on one with him or I want to form a super tag team with him," he said at the time. "We got mutual respect for one another but I think we can also fight one another too. He is the newly inducted Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam."

"If I can get a singles match or a tag match with Rob Van Dam, I would be pretty juice. I looked up to his career early on and my career and his work rate, the way he talks, the way he does his things. He didn’t care. I don’t care. He is one of a kind."
