Well, Sami Zayn doesn't have to pretend to be the Intercontinental Champion anymore.
The Great Liberator managed to retrieve both his original title and the one that WWE introduced to replace it in the opening bout of Clash of Champions last night when he faced AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy in a triple-threat ladder match, utilizing some very clever tactics to do so.
The match was high octane and hard-hitting right from the off, with all three Superstars taking some big risks with exciting ladder spots. Hardy even went old school at one point and hit a Swanton Bomb from the top of one ladder through Zayne on another.
In the end, Sami was able to handcuff Jeff's earlobe (yes, you read that right) to ladder and AJ's hand to his own, before producing a key when Styles was halfway up the ladder and cuffing him to one of the rungs. He was then free to climb to the top and unhook both belts to win the bout.
A great opener to what turned out to be a very good show all-round.
