Recent years have seen part timers or retired wrestlers adorn the cover of the WWE video games so the fact that Seth Rollins was chosen for that honour came as a surprise to everyone. In a new interview, Rollins has also revealed in a new interview why it was so important to both him and the rest of the roster to finally have a current Superstar take that spot for the upcoming WWE 2K18.

"I was pretty stoked. I got the call, they asked me to do it and I was really excited not just for myself but my entire generation of guys. You mentioned that there’s a long history of inactive wrestlers being on the cover, so to be the first of my generation of guys and girls to get than honour was really cool. I know in the locker room it was cool for the guys and girls to see one of us on there so to speak and it made us feel a little bit validated in the sense that we put in all the work and are finally getting a bit of the credit. That’s the way we feel about it anyway so it’s definitely awesome and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s responses when the game’s on shelves in a couple of months."

It's easy to understand why Rollins and the rest of the roster would feel this way and it will now be interesting to see if choosing active wrestlers becomes the precedent moving forward. Time will tell on that front but the former WWE Champion has taken to Twitter to reveal a second screenshot which features his video game counterpart making his way to the ring. Looks pretty cool, eh?
