Seth Rollins Injured At SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT - Did WWE Scrap Plans For A Cash In Attempt?

Seth Rollins was legitimately injured during last night's Saturday Night's Main Event show, and it sounds like the company was forced to pull the plug on plans for a Money in the Bank cash in attempt...

Seth Rollins squared off with LA Knight during yesterday evening's Saturday Night's Main Event show. However, the Visionary suffered a legitimate leg injury during the match, and that may have had major ripple effects on the event.

Rollins tweaked his knee on a Lionsault and appeared to suffer the unknown injury the second time he hit the move on Knight. It's been widely reported that the match was cut short, with the finish changed so that Knight won (original plans reportedly called for Rollins to score the 1-2-3).

Bryan Alvarez has since weighed in, revealing that WWE was also forced to change plans later in the show.

"Seth is injured, appears to be serious. The last 40 minutes of the show were changed on the fly, and there was something that was supposed to happen later that didn’t as a result of the injury," Alvarez said of the situation. "In storyline, Seth has until next June to cash in, so conceivably even with surgery and a long-term recovery, he could return before then."

There's speculation that Rollins was going to attempt to cash in on World Heavyweight Champion Gunther following his victory over WWE Hall of Famer. However, even though Rollins has until next June to use the Money in the Bank briefcase, WWE may be forced to change its wider creative plans if he's now going to be on the shelf for an extended period.

This is obviously deeply unfortunate for Rollins, especially as he's leading a faction that consists of himself, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed.

Rollins' absence would give WWE the opportunity to pull the trigger on Breakker a little sooner than expected, though, giving him the briefcase and potentially setting the stage for a returning Rollins to feud with his short-lived protege upon his return. Ultimately, it will depend on how long the former WWE Champion is sidelined.

Neither WWE nor Rollins have issued any sort of comment on the injury, but he's had issues with his knees in the past, and this could leave him out of action for the better part of a year if it's serious.

As always, stay tuned for updates as we have them.
