Shinsuke Nakamura's match with AJ Styles received mixed reviews from fans. Most expected it to steal the show and while it was undoubtedly very good, it didn't have the lasting impact we expected and a series of matches with inconclusive finishes really didn't help. Now, the King of Strong Style and current United States Champion has addressed how things played out between them both.
"I wanted to do more for the first time on WWE," Nakamura said reflecting on the match at the Showcase of the Immortals. "I think I could show myself more against AJ. But still, I liked getting the chance against AJ. After WrestleMania I became the heel, but I didn’t show everything. Just a little bit." Talking of that heel turn, Nakamura went on to address his low blow "obsession."
"I wanted to say the idea came from myself, but it’s not true. I don’t want to say who it was. Everybody can imagine," he said. "It was awesome because when I hit the low blow at WrestleMania, all the Japanese fans were shocked. The people in the arena were loud. They were like, ‘Yeah!’" Right now, Nakamura isn't really doing much so here's hoping that changes soon.
