The Rock Cuts A 20-Minute Heel Promo Addressing Some Of The Plot Holes In Feud With Cody Rhodes

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has taken to Instagram to share a 20-minute promo to reveal what led to Cody Rhodes changing his mind about facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, why he slapped him, and more.

When Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joined the TKO Holdings board, it's believed he used his sway to talk himself into the main event of WrestleMania under the guise of "saving" the Show of Shows after CM Punk's injury.

In a bid to appease fans, WWE had Cody Rhodes willingly give up his spot in that match with Roman Reigns to The Rock and the response...well, it wasn't good.

#WeWantCody trended on social media for the better part of a week and fans turned on Johnson. Realising they had to pivot, WWE had the Brahma Bull turn heel and gave the American Nightmare his match back. Now, the company is forging ahead with him being a member of The Bloodline.

Still, there were some undeniable plot holes which Johnson has addressed in a 20-minute heel promo (we're expecting a second part to follow). He reveals that Rhodes gave up his match at the Show of Shows after he convinced him it was what was best for the company.

He acknowledges Rhodes was within his right to change his mind as the Royal Rumble winner and says he slapped the babyface because he dared mention his grandfather in a derogatory manner. This has also made sense of at least a couple of issues fans have had with the storyline and the mystery of what The Rock supposedly whispered to Rhodes on SmackDown is now solved.

The video is well worth watching and this hopefully means we can now move forward with the story. The Rock is scheduled to appear on the next three episodes of SmackDown as is Rhodes.

This promo ends with Johnson taking aim at Seth Rollins, though what role the World Heavyweight Champion will play in this war with The Bloodline remains to be seen.
