The Undertaker began his professional wrestling career in 1987 and while he competed for World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) and later WCW, when he signed with WWE in 1990, he remained there right up until his career ended in 2022.
The WWE Hall of Famer continues to work with the company and is fiercely loyal to the promotion. Even when things were going poorly for WWE during the Monday Night War with WCW, he remained steadfast in his loyalty to WWE.
Talking on a recent edition of his podcast, the Deadman looked back on whether he ever considered making the leap to WCW.
"If my situation had been different, if WCW hadn't told me that I wasn't gonna draw any money, I don't know what I would've done. I don't," he admitted. "But the fact that they told me, you're never gonna make money, that was always my chip. That was always the chip I carried on my shoulder."
Those comments were made to The Undertaker during the year or so he spent in WCW and it's clear he never quite got past that. However, when Kevin Nash approached him with a big-money offer, he briefly considered jumping ship!
"I remember Nash calling me; man, I think I can get you this if you wanna come down. And I was like, 'Wow that's a lot more money than I'm making right now,'" the Phenom recounted. "I thought about it, and I was like no. That guy there [Vince McMahon] gave me the opportunity."
"And this might be the worst decision I ever make, but he gave me the opportunity to become something. And I just couldn't do it."
We'd say he made the right choice, particularly as WWE was ultimately victorious over WCW and the wrestlers who left WWE to sign with the rival promotion...well, Vince McMahon didn't exactly treat them well!
Elsewhere in the conversation, The Undertaker pitched his dream Survivor Series lineup:
"So there’s five of us. I hate when I have to think of like, several people right off the cuff. We’ll take Kane, Stone Cold [Steve Austin], Andre [The Giant]. I’m in it to win it, brother. This ain’t a beauty pageant? I got one more. Just to make things right, Koko B. Ware. [Laughs] Full circle moment right there. I came all the way back, I’d make it right. And if Koko wasn’t available, I’d probably take either Shawn [Michaels] or Triple H probably. If Koko couldn’t make it."
