Last Friday, WWE shocked the wrestling world by releasing Zelina Vega.

The news came moments after the 29-year-old released a tweet supporting unionization:

However, it’s since been revealed by numerous sources that Vega’s tweet (real name Thea Trinidad) had nothing to do with the company firing the former WWE superstar. Reportedly, Trinidad’s release has been brewing since WWE’s edict on banning performers from using platforms like Twitch and Cameo.

Dave Meltzer especially noted that Vega was highly vocal about her position on Twitch and according to Sports Illustrated, the last straw was Trinidad opening an OnlyFans account. The company confirmed with the website that she breached her contract; thus they made the decision to release Trinidad.

The former WWE superstar spoke about her departure over a Twitch stream and stated that she was “heartbroken” over being released; however, Trinidad never talks negative about the company and thanked several behind-the-scenes personnel. The former WWE star also made it clear that she’s not done with professional wrestling.

The situation involving Trinidad has gained a lot of outside attention including from SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, who told Trinidad to contact her in under the support unionization tweet. We’ll keep you updated on the news regarding this situation as it continues.
