WWE's decision to continue holding live shows has come under fire from many due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and there was a lot of backlash after Orlando deemed WWE an "essential" business...just hours after a sizeable donation was made to President Donald Trump's re-election campaign in the state.
All Elite Wrestling is also running shows, but the backlash aimed at them hasn't been anywhere near as bad. However, they didn't just lay off a tonne of wrestlers and producers before announcing big profits to shareholders!
Regardless, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has now weighed in with his thoughts on wrestling being "essential" during these trying times. "The whole world is pretty much shut down, but pro wrestling still exists," he started. "It is still on television live, three days a week, and not just WWE, there’s AEW. Not just the WWE, and there’s some people who are gonna hate on that. Because it has nothing to do with them."
"But for all the people that rely on pro wrestling as a form of entertainment to get them through this tough time? Yeah. It’s essential. It is highly essential. And I don’t expect everybody to agree because everybody doesn’t agree on anything…except bacon."
We can agree on that last point, but what do you guys think about Henry's take on the matter?
