Talking Smack doesn't generate anywhere near the same level of discussion online as it once did, but Paul Heyman has proved himself an invaluable part of the show each week.
His interactions with Superstars often bring out the best in them, while verbal clashes with the likes of Cesaro and Edge have helped further their respective storylines with Roman Reigns. Last week, fans noticed that Pat McAfee was working the show with Kayla Braxton, and it looks like that's a permanent change.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "Heyman is now off Talking Smack." Apparently, "the change is permanent and not a one-week thing," and as for the reason why, it's said that "there’s no real reason for it past a company decision."
In other words, it's one of those WWE "just 'cause" situations.
The original iteration of the show was hosted by Renee Young and Daniel Bryan, but following its cancellation, it returned last year with Braxton and Xavier Woods hosting. As soon as he was ready to return to in-ring action, Heyman stepped in, and it seems McAfee could be the new permanent co-host.
It's possible that Heyman had enough of the role or that WWE plans to involve him in storylines more, but there are bound to be a lot of fans disappointed by this Talking Smack change.
