WWE's plans for WrestleMania 42 in 2026 recently underwent a significant change, marking the biggest shakeup since the company was forced to hold the Show of Shows in the WWE Performance Center during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last month, it was confirmed that WrestleMania will no longer be held in New Orleans, despite being announced for April 11 and April 12. Since then, much has been said about where it could be held, with London, England, and Saudi Arabia among the rumoured possibilities.
However, Las Vegas has frequently been named as the most likely frontrunner, meaning the iconic PLE would hail from Sin City two years in a row.
According to Bryan Alvarez on the latest Wrestling Observer Live, WrestleMania 42 emanating Las Vegas is "almost a done deal."
He added, "As of today, they’re still not 'confirmed' for anywhere, but this morning, they cleared several hurdles that were in the way of WWE going to WrestleMania [in Vegas]. Vegas is apparently making a lot of concessions to clear the way for WrestleMania in Vegas and I was told that as of today, it is almost a done deal."
"One of the issues, there were a couple of issues, was an issue with the stadium – this is not gonna be in the Sphere, it’s looking like it would be in the stadium," Alvarez continued. "Apparently, there was an unannounced concert, but the concert was close enough to the planned date of WrestleMania that there was not gonna be enough time to set up, and the concert was unwilling to move."
It's said that, "there was an issue with the convention center, which is where they were gonna do all of their whatever it’s called now [WWE World]," and while he's "not sure what hurdles were cleared," he pointed out that "several were this morning."
"So it’s looking like probably very, very shortly, we’re going to get the news that next year’s WrestleMania is officially in Las Vegas, Nevada,” Alvarez concluded. "Vegas again. I’m fine with that. It’s nice and warm."
If WrestleMania does end up running in Las Vegas for a second year, then the date of the event is expected to be moved to April 18 - April 19.
Fans have also expressed some disappointment with the news, though plenty have also taken great delight in pointing out that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announcing WrestleMania 42 for New Orleans has put him in the middle of another noteworthy WWE moment that went nowhere.
