During a conference call to discuss RAW remaining on the USA Network and SmackDown Live's jump to FOX in 2019, WWE Co-Presidents Michelle Wilson and George Barrios dropped some hints about new content which the company is currently exploring, presumably for the WWE Network (but possibly other avenues as well). Needless to say, it will definitely be outside the company's comfort zone!

Wilson reportedly hinted that WWE is considering exploring "scripted content" which includes "comedies and drama." Whether or not those would actually star wrestlers is hard to say and it's also not clear if they would take place within the world of wrestling or would be set in a completely different genre. She also added that WWE is considering more reality TV shows like Total Divas and documentaries.

As the company continues looking to break into the mainstream, we can probably expect WWE to continue launching a variety of TV shows both on and off the WWE Network in order to increase its audience and change the perception of wrestling (something which will be helped by SmackDown Live airing on broadcast television). As always, stay tuned for additional updates when we have them.
