We're in a bit of a transition period with WWE, especially if reports about Seth Rollins' injury are accurate (the latest is that he could miss WrestleMania 42).
Survivor Series: WarGames is fast approaching, as is John Cena's retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event. In our latest WWE rumor roundup, we have details on those shows, including a possible appearance from...President Donald Trump?!
There are also updates on Rey Mysterio, Ridge Holland, Triple H, and more. Be warned, some potential spoilers for upcoming WWE shows and storylines follow from this point on...
- Earlier this week, Ridge Holland confirmed that he's been released by WWE following a lengthy stint in NXT. While the company will continue covering his medical bills, he won't be able to wrestle for six months, leaving him unable to make a living. According to multiple outlets, Holland was on main roster money until 2024, when he accepted a $200,000 pay cut to remain in NXT.
- Many fans have condemned WWE for leaving Holland out in the cold, and it's said that they likely only agreed to cover his rehab because he was injured during a TNA show and would have otherwise had a successful lawsuit on his hands.
- In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it's said that Triple H has been criticised by some for his "political priorities" (making frequent appearances alongside Linda and Stephanie McMahon in the White House). That's led to him missing a few TV dates, though most seem to believe that his attempt to follow in Dana White's footsteps hasn't hurt the product.
- On the subject of politics, Meltzer expects "leading political figures to be invited and attend" John Cena's final WWE match in Washington, D.C., this December. Apparently, "there will be a ton of people from the White House at the show, but [President Donald] Trump is undecided at the moment."
- WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is expected to return to the WWE Performance Center this week as part of his continued recovery from injury.
- AJ Styles reportedly had no idea that he would get a special introduction at Crown Jewel last Saturday. That was John Cena's doing, and both men received a standing ovation backstage when their match was over.
- Next year's Elimination Chamber PLE is expected to take place on February 28 in Chicago, according to Wrestlenomics.
- Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu is planned for Saturday Night's Main Event. The idea is for the winner to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames, with McIntyre currently expected to challenge the American Nightmare.
- Seth Rollins' injury has had a domino effect in WWE, and plans for the men's WarGames match have changed. On the women's side, Meltzer believes the current plan is Charlotte Flair, IYO SKY, AJ Lee, Alexa Bliss, and Rhea Ripley to battle Lash Legend, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Asuka.
- Bodyslam.net is reporting that Def Rebel, who produces the entrance themes for WWE Superstars, is on their last contract with the company. They're not overly popular with fans or, according to recent rumours, WWE's wrestlers (many of whom have pushed for their previous themes to make a comeback).
