AEW's Chris Jericho Advises NXT To "Concede Defeat" And Move To Tuesday Night's Permanently

NXT moved from its regular Wednesday night slot last week, and will be back for another "Super Tuesday" show next week. Although this hasn't been confirmed as a new permanent home for the black and gold brand, the spike in ratings would suggest that it might at least be worth considering.

With a few exceptions, AEW has consistently trounced NXT in the ratings every Wednesday, and Chris Jericho believes the smart thing to do would be to admit defeat and "retreat" to Tuesday nights on a permanent basis.

Here's what the Demo God had to say during his recent appearance on Busted Open Radio.

“They should retreat. They should move to any other night. Get away from us! You guys got a great program and it’s good, why would you want to sacrifice your own ratings just to be spiteful and petty to go head to head with AEW? We’re not going anywhere. Put on anything you want – we’ll continue to beat you. It is a retreat, but it’s also the right move from a business standpoint. Get your head out of your rear end and just worry about your product the same way we worry about ours.

If they move to Tuesday, smart move. That way you guys can get your 850 thousand, 900 thousand. Whatever! Get 10 million viewers. Congratulations! Let us do our thing and we’ll get over a million. I think it’s a smart move business-wise on theirs. They lost! There’s nothing wrong with conceding defeat, moving to a different night, and worrying about your show and not worrying about going head to head with AEW because you can’t stop us.”

Honestly, it's hard to argue with Le Champion's logic. NXT does put out a great show - considerably better than AEW's weekly content, one could argue - but it's just never been able to find a foothold in the "Wednesday Night War."

We should learn more about NXT's plans going forward after next Tuesday's episode, which will feature an NXT Championship match between Finn Balor and Adam Cole.
