I don’t think Bully Ray is happy with The Death Rider’s story.
At All Out, Jon Moxley shocked the world when he turned on Bryan Danielson and formed an alliance with Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir, and Pac. These five would eventually be known as The Death Riders. While the shock value was definitely high, there was some intrigue over Moxley and his misfit crew who seemingly wanted to destroy AEW.
However, that intrigue is long gone for most fans of the AEW story. Many have coined The Death Rider’s as a failed NWO clone and the story just isn’t keeping people’s attention like it first did. Moxley recently did an interview with his wife Renee Paquette and it was more story fluff about The Death Rider’s purpose in AEW. However, the AEW World Champion seemed to take some aim at people who were criticizing the story as he said:
“Everyone can just stop asking questions. Trust in us, and just enjoy the damn ride.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
Some saw that as Moxley’s way of saying shut up and just enjoy the product. Actually, he’s pretty much saying a version of that. Bully Ray caught wind of Moxley’s recent promo and he wasn’t too thrilled over the 39-year-old’s comments. He scolded Moxley for telling fans to stop asking questions and just enjoy the damn ride.
"Are we supposed to just sit back and not care, if we don't care about the Death Riders?" Bully said. "I've been doing this for a long time, a lot longer than Jon Moxley, and I'll be damned if a f***ing CZW guy will ever be smarter than an ECW guy, and that's a shot. Somebody explain to me what's going on here."
The WWE Hall of Famer went even further by explaining why Moxley’s title reign isn’t working and the hosts at Busted Open Radio chimed in. Ultimately, Ray likes Moxley and wants him to succeed, but he feels that The Death Riders story just doesn’t make much sense.
"All I know is if you tell me to shut up and enjoy the ride, I need the ride to make sense just once," Bully continued. "People want to love you, Jon Moxley. Stop doing what you want to do — do what is best for the company. Get rid of this, stick up for the company. You need a monster heel to go after, and that's the gospel."
