Colten Gunn is out with an injury.
Unfortunately, the second generation star is sidelined and is appears to have something to do with the knee, though that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Due to Colten’s injury, he will not compete in the upcoming AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament. According to a report in Fightful Select, “Colten Gunn was originally planned for the tag team title eliminator tournament. AEW wanted to give it time to see if he could make the tourney, but it’s looking unlikely. AEW will be making internal changes accordingly.”
AEW hasn't announced all of the participants for the upcoming tournament so it’s unknown which team will replace the former AEW World Tag Team Champions. This is terrible news as Austin and Colten just came back from their hiatus. The duo has mostly been out of commission in 2025, but not due to injury. Colten and Austin have been simply sitting on the sidelines and didn't sound too thrilled about not being in action in AEW.
They last competed before their All In return back in February against Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin for the AEW World Tag Team titles. They made their return alongside Juice Robinson at AEW's All In pay-per-view. The Gunns made their in-ring return on Collision where AEW held a $200,000 four way match between The Gunns, Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona), Big Bill & Bryan Keith and CRU (Action Andretti & Lio Rush). The Gates of Agony won that match.
The tag tournament started this past Wednesday on Dynamite where FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) beat Jet Speed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) to advance into the quarter finals. At the moment, it’s unknown how long Colten will be out of action.
There’s a possibility that Austin could end up in the tournament as Juice Robinson may step in, but there’s no reports on whether that’s the plan or not so that’s just speculation. As always, we’ll keep you updated on the situation once more news comes out about how serious Colten’s injury is and the time period that he’ll be sitting on the sidelines.
