Danhausen’s time in AEW could be coming to an end soon.
According to Fightful Select, Danhausen’s current deal ends in July, unless AEW decides to tack on injury time. That would actually be shocking since Danhausen hasn’t wrestled in either AEW or ROH since February 14, 2024. Danhausen defeated Brandon Cutler on an episode of Ring of Honor. The 34-year-old made his surprise return at Final Battle, helping Atlantis Jr. beat Mansoor.
Reportedly, there were plans for him to make his television return following his ROH appearance, but that never came to fruition. Despite his AEW/ROH absence, Danhausen has been busy working on indie shows in 2025. His last show was last month at Green Mountain Wrestling where he teamed with Preston Douglas to take on Memory Museum (Abed Arroniz & Joe Krule). At the moment, there’s no word on why Tony Khan has been unable to come up with something for Danhausen. When he first arrived in 2022, he was quite the popular act as the crowd was slowly getting into his partnership with Hook.
Is it possible that Danhausen could re-sign with AEW?
Of course! Unfortunately, it does seem as if he’ll follow the path of Miro, Malakai Black, Ricky Starks, Maria, Leyla Hirsch , Zak Knight, Abandon, and Rey Fenix. Thus far, Danhausen hasn’t said anything about his contract coming up, though in his interview with Chris Van Vliet back in February, he did detail his experience of not being put on television.
"For a long time I was there, I just wasn't doing anything," Danhausen said. "Which is like 'If you don't have anything for me, that's fine. But I feel like we have to find something for me.' At some point, they were just like 'You can just stay home.' And I was like 'Okay, cool. That's great, because I appreciate that, because then I'm not just being brought out to whatever.' And then they were letting me do the indies and doing the conventions, and it just helps me, again, stay sharp, which is, in turn, for them. And also, still, I always looked at that as I'm still representing the company then, in a way, because I'm on these shows. So that's better than me just not being seen on the show."
Anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling, but it does seem as if Danhaussen’s time in AEW will come to an end next month. We’ll keep you updated if the situation changes.
