Is Dustin Rhodes sidlelined with an injury?
At All In, the 56-year-old shocked the world by winning the TNT Championship for the first time of his career. Unfortunately for Dustin, his reign wouldn’t last long since he dropped the belt to Kyle Fletcher in a brutal Street Fight. His run as the TNT Champion lasted 19 days, which is surprisingly not the shortest TNT title run.
However, it appears that Dustin lost more than just a championship on Thursday. The AEW veteran released a message highlighting that he’s dealing with an injury that he needs to get surgery on. AEW wrote the second generation star off television as Fletcher attacked Rhodes after the bell.
There’s no telling how long Dustin will be out of action, Fightiful Select confirmed that the AEW star is getting double knee surgery. Early reports suggest that he won’t be back until early 2026. That leaves a big question mark about the ROH World Tag Team and Six-Man Tag Team titles. Dustin holds both belts.
Him and Sammy Guevara hold the ROH World Tag Team titles as the Sons of Texas. They’ve held those titles for 352 days. Guevara seemingly alluded to the end of their run as champions, though the post was so vague that it isn’t clear if he was talking about the tag title situation. The Sons of Texas last defended their titles against The Infantry at Supercard of Honor.
Dustin has been ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions with Marshall and Ross von Erich for over 370 days. A good portion of those days Rhodes didn’t defend those belts because Marshall was sidelined for a lengthy period of time due to a torn pectoral muscle. The trio last defended those titles against Johnny TV and the MxM Collection (Mason Madden and Mansoor) in April.
As always, we’ll keep you updated about the situation, though given the length of his reported injury, it wouldn’t be surprising if he had to relinquish both titles.
