Eddie Kingston is a step closer to returning.

Back in 2024, the inaugural Continental Champion suffered a leg injury during a Last Man Standing match against Gabe Kidd. The serious injury required surgery for a fractured tibia, torn ACL, and a meniscus tear.

It was all quiet on Kingston’s end since the announcement of the surgery and many wondered if the AEW star would return since there was no update on his progress. Well, the 43-year-old has stated in the past that the recovery stage has been slow, but Kingston confirmed during an instagram story that he was finally getting back into the ring.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider inquired Kingston about his in-ring training and the AEW star made it clear that it certainly wasn’t an easy process.

"I just want to hurry up and fight someone already in the ring. Sh** ain't easy but what the f**k else am I going to do for a living? I don't care about anything else. Backstage or in front of the camera, I don't give a f**k. I just want to be in my safe place and f**k someone up.

There’s still no timetable for when Eddie could make his in-ring return. Last month, Eddie highlighted that he had a long way to go, but felt that he was moving in the right direction.

"I am not there.” Kingston said during his interview with Cezar's YouTube channel. “I have started running in the ring. I am still doing physical therapy and I am mentally better. Yet again, as people know, it's a struggle, but being able to be in the ring again and work out with PT and working out with Cezar [Bononi] is helping my mental health, let alone my body. I can finally feel the ball is moving in the right direction"

It’s a shame that Eddie didn’t get to be a part of the Death Riders angle as he could’ve added a compelling layer to it, but it’s good to hear that his recovery is moving along nicely. If you’re wondering, Eddie does watch AEW and he questioned recently whether he’ll still be good enough to go based on the talent AEW has acquired.

"I'm watching AEW... I'm thinking to myself how am I gonna fight these dudes when they're this good? And I wasn't even that good to begin with and now coming back with ACL surgery... I took my Zoloft, knew how to get out of it, but I didn't want to."

It should be very interesting to see Eddie’s first feud when he returns eventually.
