Kevin Knight is all elite.
This past Saturday, Knight fought Jay White in a match that opened plenty of eyes on the future of Kevin Knight. Shortly after, it was confirmed by Tony Khan himself that the 28-year-old had signed a full time contract with AEW.
Collision wasn’t his first match in AEW. Knight actually made his debut for the promotion on the now defunct AEW Dark in 2022. He teamed with DKC to take on The Factory’s Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto. The Factory ultimately won that match. Knight started out as enhancement talent in AEW until he ventured out to New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling.
He spent a significant time in both promotions, though Knight would put more focus into New Japan in 2024/2025. Knight became a big player in the tag team division as he won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles twice with KUSHIDA. He also competed in MLW, PROGRESS Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and DEFY; having incredible matches against the likes of Mustafa Ali, Leon Slater, and KENTA.
Knight started popping back up in AEW through ROH, where he had a show stealing match against AR Fox that led to a time limit draw. Knight’s a good addition to the AEW roster that offers fresh matches and something exciting for the mid-card. Of course, there’s opportunity for growth as he shows flashes of brilliance, but it’s Tony’s job to help bring that out of him.
Following his match against Jay White on Saturday, Knight’s predicting his future within AEW:
"Jay White, you got me tonight. You got me. I respect that. Not only do I respect your work, I respect what you about to do in that tournament. I hope you're going to win the whole thing because just know tonight you felt the Jet. Not only did you feel it, the rest of All Elite Wrestling did. The locker room and everybody in the office saw what the Jet was capable of tonight.
So tonight, I may not have got the W, But next week, when the Jet comes back, and the next week, the Jet's going to keep building that confidence. Not only will I be headlining Collision, I'm going to be headlining Dynamite. I'm going to be headlining pay-per-views all over the country, just how the Jet do. Jay White, I'm going to come up for you and the rest of the locker room to see who can really fly with the Jet, because the Jet is too fly."
Congratulations to Knight! Hopefully, he doesn’t become another name that fades within AEW’s large roster.
