Willow Nightingale remains All Elite.
Last week, Fightful Select released a report claiming that the former TBS Champion was in her final year with AEW. However, that report did make note that Willow was a “priority” signing and that the 31-year-old was genuinely happy in AEW. So it’s no surprise that Willow Nightingale re-signed with the promotion.
As of now, there’s no confirmation on how long her new contract is, but it does guarantee that Willow isn’t going anywhere in the near future. There was no word on whether WWE was actually interested in Willow, though it would be shocking if they weren’t as Willow has had a strong 2024. Though she didn’t keep her TBS Championship for long, AEW has consistently kept her on television thanks to feuds against Kris Statlander, Mariah May, and her ongoing saga with The Death Riders.
With Mariah May reportedly done with AEW, it’s good that another strong performer from the women’s division will remain on the roster for years to come. The former TBS Champion originally started her run on Dark in 2021, jobbing left and right to names like Thunder Rosa and Penelope Ford. Her first Dynamite appearance was on July 20, 2022, where she teamed with Athena to take on The Baddies (Jade Cargill & Kiera Hogan). They lost.
However, Willow’s next Dynamite appearance resulted in her first win on the flagship show. Since then, Willow has been making regular appearances on Dynamite and Collision and notably main evented the 2023 Death By Dishonor pay-per-view against Athena in one of the best matches of her career. That only elevated her status. Fast forward to 2024 where Willow beat Julia Hart to win the TBS Championship.
She dropped it quickly to Mercedes Mone at Double or Nothing and has remained a big presence on AEW television ever since. Willow remains locked up in the Death Riders storyline, where there seems to be hints that she'll be in the Anarchy in the Arena match at the upcoming May pay-per-view, though there’s been no confirmation on that notion thus far.
There’s no reports on what the future holds for Willow in the following months, but hopefully, AEW continues to give her the spotlight she deserves as Willow is easily one of the best parts of the promotion. During her time in AEW, she’s also held the NJPW STRONG Women's title and the CMLL World Women's Championship.
