Karrion Kross And Scarlett Talk Possible AEW Debut And Open Up On Why Contract Talks Make WWE Return Unlikely

Former WWE Superstars Karrion Kross and Scarlett have talked more about their exit from the company earlier this year, revealing whether there's a possibility of them jumping ship to sign a deal with AEW.

After weeks of speculation about their in-ring future, Karrion Kross and Scarlett parted ways with WWE in August. There was—and continues to be—speculation about it being a work, especially as fans on social media had been making it clear that #WeWantKross.

Ultimately, that groundswell of support never really went anywhere, and it's not as if crowds have been hijacking shows by chanting for Kross since his WWE release.

Even with Triple H in charge, it's clear the company was never going to push Kross and Scarlett as a main event act. They've since hit the independent scene; that comes following contract negotiations with WWE, which saw the sports entertainment giant seemingly express little interest in keeping either Superstar.

Talking to Chris Van Vliet, the duo was asked whether they have any interest in jumping ship to AEW. "I don't think we should say who we do or don't talk to," Kross said, prompting Scarlett to add, "We have friends everywhere. That's the thing. We have friends everywhere. Around 2022, right before we came back, there was a conversation about you coming in, but the story wasn't...it didn't really make sense."

Kross explained, "I wanted to do something bigger for Tony at the time, so we just said, let's stay in touch. And had planned to do something."

"If we ever go to AEW, we're going to be flying the AEW flag," Scarlett said. "That is going to be our home forever. Whatever our next company is, that's it. Right now, we're still talking about WWE the way we are. To go over there and be like, oh, you know, we're just here to just go back to it. We wouldn't want to do that to him. So if we go there, we're like, 'No, we're going to make this company the absolute best.'"

As for whether he'd be open to returning to WWE following a somewhat acrimonious exit, Kross stated, "I mean, I'll speak for myself. You could answer this separately, if you like. I don't know. I don't know what that door looks like, or what's even on the other side of it. I'm still completely perturbed by the conversation that we had, it was so bizarre and strange and shocking."

He'd go on to say that WWE used "pressure tactics" when he was offered a new deal, and suggested that money was just as big an issue as creative. As Scarlett put it, "I asked [Kross], 'Is money the most important thing to you?' I asked you if you were making this amount of money, but things stayed exactly the way they were. Would you be happy?"

"If you were making a fourth of what they offered you just doing your own thing, would you be okay? You said, 'Yes, of course.' Because what were you really looking for? Like, what? What did you get into this for as a kid, as a wrestler?"

To that, Kross responded, "The artistry of it, making moments so people could remember them, the way I did when I was little, when I saw them happen."

Elsewhere in the interview, Kross shared his disappointment that when it came time to discuss a new deal, WWE had little interest in his merch sales, the success of his book, or the support he was receiving from fans.

It seems WWE may have played games when it came to Scarlett's deal, too, leading to concerns that she would be left out in the cold after he signed a new contract.
