New AEW World Champion Crowned At AEW Worlds End, Samoa Joe Dethroned!

Samoa Joe has lost the AEW World Championship in his four-way match for the main event of AEW Worlds End. Who walked out as champion? Was it "Hangman" Adam Page? MJF? Swerve Strickland? Find out!

There was already a big title change that went down at AEW Worlds End 2025 with the AEW Continental Classic, but the main event of the night doubled down on changing up the landscape of All Elite Wrestling as we have a new AEW world champion as well!

In a four-way for the title, Samoa Joe walked in as champion to defend against the man he beat to win the title, "Hangman" Adam Page, as well as Swerve Strickland and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who had used his Casino Gauntlet contract and executed his option to insert himself into what was previously a three-way for the title.

This proved to be a smart strategy, as MJF won the AEW World Championship in this main event, scoring a pinfall over Joe himself to win the title, which is an even more definitive way to dethrone the current champion, rather than pinning one of the two other contenders who were obviously not the current title-holder.

MJF's pinfall came about from a Heatseeker piledriver, as shown here:

Here is footage of MJF posing with the title, as he spoke to the camera to remind everyone that he is better than you, and you know it:

MJF's second world title reign brings up two interesting statistics, in that his first reign ended at Worlds End 2023 when he lost the belt to Samoa Joe, of all people. Effectively, MJF has now evened the score between himself and Joe.

Since Bandido won the Dynamite Diamond Ring, he has earned a title opportunity for Maximum Carnage, which is likely to be MJF's first defense of the title.

Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:

I was curious what the point of Samoa Joe winning the title was in the first place, and I'm even more curious about that now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan who thinks Joe should've been a WWE world champion at least once, too. But I didn't think it made sense for him to be the one to beat Page as he did. Now that MJF did this, I think even more so that it still should have been MJF. I'm a fan of this in theory. Since MJF wasn't involved in the Dynamite Diamond Ring setup for the first time, I'm hoping we can see him somehow get that back from Bandido. Maybe he retains over Bandido, who asks for a rematch, and MJF says he has to put the ring up to convince him?
