Several weeks ago (roughly September 13th), Andrade El Idolo was released from World Wrestling Entertainment. Information on why that happened is still speculative, but some reports claimed it could have been due to a Wellness Policy violation or some other kind of disciplinary issue, particularly as Andrade still had quite some time left on his contract. WWE has made a habit of the past year or so of keeping people around until their contracts are about to expire and simply letting them go without re-signing them, rather than outright firing people, so this must have indicated either Andrade wanting to leave on his own accord or WWE feeling the need to step in and release him for some other reason other than just the contract lapsing.
With that in mind, Andrade thanked WWE upon his release and proceeded to book some indie matches, but tonight on AEW Dynamite's sixth year anniversary, he made his return to All Elite Wrestling.
During the opening match, The Young Bucks and The Don Callis Family's Josh Alexander lost a trios match to Kenny Omega and Brodido (Bandido and Brody King). After the bell, Brodido went to the back while Omega stuck around in the ring to have a moment with Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson, his former friends, only to be attacked from behind by Alexander.
This three on one attack was broken up by Jurassic Express, as Luchasaurus and Jack Perry made the save and helped Omega fight them off. Perry has his issues with Omega, though, so they had an argument, before Perry and Luchasaurus fought with The Young Bucks to the back.
This gave Omega a chance to cut a promo about the six year anniversary, thanking the audience for their support and saying that he is a better man for being in AEW over these past six years. He then bid everyone adieu with his trademark "goodbye *mwah* and goodnight, bang" when the lights went out.
After they came back, a mysterious masked figure was standing behind him, unmasking as Andrade, who then went on the attack and laid out The Best Bout Machine before making it official that he is part of The Don Callis Family.
Later in the show, the "clone" of Hologram (El Clon) cost Orange Cassidy his TNT Championship match against Kyle Fletcher, and the entire Don Callis Family that was available at the time (Brian Cage and Trent are injured) stood on the stage, with Andrade standing alongside them.
