Kyle Fletcher has finally responded to Stevie Richards' claims that he needs more seasoning.
A couple of weeks ago, the former WWE and ECW star made a bold claim stating that somebody needs to teach the TNT Champion how to work. Now that statement was met with a mixed response, though it was more so on the side of people thinking that Richards was crazy for stating that Kyle Fletcher needed more seasoning.
Fletcher has been busy dealing with Hangman Page, but he finally got a chance to respond to Stevie Richards’ statement on a recent episode of The Ringer Wrestling Show, and it’s too safe to say that Fletcher doesn’t agree.
“I went and I watched the full thing, everything that he said. Look, I’m not gonna — I’m open to any and all critiques, that is fine. He has an opinion on who I am as a wrestler and that’s fine. It just doesn’t feel like it’s in good faith, if that makes sense. I think a lot of those guys, they kind of look for the buzz words and the things that are going to get clicks or whatever.
He spoke a lot about the culture is it AEW, I don’t think he knows anything about the culture at AEW. He said there is nobody there for me to learn from, I think that’s absolutely [frick]ing horseshit, you know what I mean? I’m learning from people every single day that I’m there, there’s so many great minds."
Fletcher also fought back on Richards stating that there was nobody in AEW that could help him get better at his psychology game.
"There’s Bryan Danielson there almost every week. I’m open to criticism, I just don’t think it was in the best faith. No ill will. I’m open to critique at any and all times. I’m 26 years old, I’m still trying to learn this business, man. I have a lot more room to grow, for sure.”
It was a crazy statement for Richards to say that Fletcher needed more seasoning. It felt as if Richards only sees the WWE style as the acceptable one in professional wrestling. His matches against Will Ospreay alone showcase Fletcher's ability to tell a story in the ring. Sure, some of his matches can go overboard move wise, but if Fletcher made the jump over to WWE then he would be ready for the main roster for sure.
