Despite happening on Saturday night, Double or Nothing is coming off the weekend with a high buzz surrounding the product.

The first pay-per-view from All Elite Wrestling delivered many surprises throughout the night, including the return of former TNA and WWE star – who underwent the name Kharma during her brief time in the company - Awesome Kong. The former Knockouts champion hasn’t graced a wrestling ring since 2016 and is mostly known these days for her work on the Netflix show, GLOW.

While it’s not clear if Kong’s appearance at Double or Nothing was a one-off appearance, the former Impact star excited many fans upon her return at the big event. Kong spoke during Lita’s Q&A during Starrcast and revealed how DDP helped her before her big match-up on Saturday night (transcript courtesy of ringsidenews):

“The night before, because it’s been like three years since I you know had braids and had to wear this costume and the night before I was in bed and I was trying to summon Kong. I was like ‘are you gonna be there?’ and it was like that scene in the Avengers where Hulk was like ‘NO!’ and I was like ‘please! I need you there!'”

“Thankfully, DDP was backstage and right before I went on he gave me like the best peptalk. His piercing blue eyes were starring into me. He was like: ‘You can do it! You are this and positive thinking! Did you read my book on positive thinking?! You read the book on positive thinking you go out there!’ I was like ‘I’m going to order it now on Amazon it’ll be home for me when I get there — going now!’ And so Kong showed up for DDP.”

As previously stated, it’s not clear if this was a full time return or not. The former TNA star was reportedly penciled in for Double or Nothing four months ago and during this day and age of the internet, it’s surprising that the secret was kept so well.
