Isla Dawn isn’t wasting any time returning to action.
Wrestling Under The Stars has confirmed that Isla Dawn will be in action on Saturday July 19th.
This is Dawn’s first post WWE match confirmed. She’s currently under a 90-day non compete clause, which should end in May, so it’s possible for the former WWE star to book an earlier wrestling gig if she chooses to do so.
The former WWE star got the dreaded release from the promotion on february 8th. Dawn was with WWE for six years. The 31-year-old started out as a jobber on RAW, but then made a full time transition to NXT UK. Though she didn’t win any titles, Dawn impressed in the ring especially during her matches against Meiko Satomura. Once NXT UK shut down, she transferred to NXT and formed a partnership with Alba Fyre.
Eventually, the duo would win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships, beating Fallon Henley and Kiana James for the belts. Fyre and Dawn only defended them twice between a title unification match against Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.
After that title match, Dawn and Fyre essentially disappeared from WWE television until they were booked for a Triple Threat match at Bash in Berlin. Dawn and Fyre would shockingly win the WWE Tag Team titles and defended them twice before dropping the belts back to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.
Following that match, Dawn’s time on television became scarce. They went back down to NXT for a bit and fought Meta-Four (Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) and Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx) a month before Dawn’s release. Dawn was officially released on February 8th, and she put out a fun little response to the news of her departure.
Dawn is no stranger to independent wrestling, so it’s not a surprise that she’s still moving forward without WWE. Dawn is a talented name so she shouldn’t have a problem finding more wrestling gigs, and it’ll be exciting to see what she can do in her post-WWE career. Who knows, Isla Dawn is only 31-years-old so it’s not impossible for her to make a return down the line like so many others have in the past.
