NJPW Dominion took place in Japan this morning and one of the biggest surprises came when Chris Jericho managed to defeat Tetsuya Naito to become the new IWGP Intercontinental Champion (despite being a WWE Superstar and performing for the company as recently as the Greatest Royal Rumble). So, how did things play out in what proved to be a thrilling and action-packed bout?
Well, it actually took a few minutes for the match to start as Jericho destroyed Naito at ringside before the bell rang. With a clear advantage, Y2J beat his bloodied opponent with a low blow and Codebreaker to become champion. After the match, he hit Naito with the title (adding insult to injury) before EVIL ran in to make the save. Needless to say, Jericho clearly isn't done with NJPW.
What this means for his WWE future isn't clear but he's clearly having fun trying something new and receiving a great deal of acclaim in the process. Did you guys manage to catch this match?
